"Nice is the new Cool"
The Prevent Violence Coalition is dedicated to inspiring kindness throughout the community, with a special focus on elementary children. In the past, they have organized fundraisers for various initiatives, including random acts of kindness projects, kindness books for children, child abuse awareness activities, and domestic violence awareness projects. In 2021, I had the honor of being commissioned to create a large-scale mural in downtown Muscatine for this organization.
Through collaborative meetings and brainstorming sessions, we settled on a concept for the mural: a large Panda. Pandas are universally recognized as symbols of kindness, making them the perfect choice for this project. One unique feature of the mural is that we designed it to be interactive, allowing people to write and share kind words on the balloons within the artwork. The mural serves as a powerful and meaningful statement of unity and compassion for the entire community and schools in Muscatine.
